Explain if the appropriate care, diligence, and fairness were displayed.
Provide direct examples from the scenario to support your discussion.

This assessment task will assess the following learning outcome/s:
be able to explain the principles of professionalism and decision-making accountability as they apply to policing in NSW.
be able to explain NSW Police Force ethical standards as articulated in the Statement of Values, Code of Conduct and Ethics and the Oath of Office and other associated policies and apply these to policing scenarios.
be able to explain the crucial role of lawful discretion in the police decision-making processes.
be able to use effective written and oral communication techniques appropriately in a range of policing situations.
This assessment item tests the student's knowledge and ability to critically analyse communication strategies, ethical decision making and professional behaviour in accordance with Police Force ideals and expectations in a constructed scenario. It also tests the ability of students to write an academic essay.
Assessment tasks should be submitted on a Microsoft Word document:
The first page should contain your name, student number, subject code, word count and due date. Please use 12-point Arial font and avoid the use of fancy templates with added colour or graphics.
Lines should be double-spaced.
The assessment tasks should be within +/- 10% of the word limit. The word count is taken from the first word to the last word and includes quotes. Quotes must comprise less than 10% of the total word count.
Proofread your work so that it is free of spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes. Use language that is appropriate for academic and professional tasks. Ensure you use respectful and appropriate terminology.
Your reference list should contain all source documents that you refer to, quote or paraphrase from. It must conform to the "APA 7" referencing style.
Writing clearly and succinctly is a core skill that all students are required to develop. This is a skill that is important not only for your studies but also for your future careers
Students should note that:
The word count includes all words within the body of the assessment item. This includes headings, in-text references, legislation and quotes.
The word count does not include words within imported illustrations, tables and charts.
Reference lists and appendices are not included in the word count. NOTE: Words contained in tables created by the student in order to present information in a clear and concise manner are included in the word count
Being within a 10% over or under word count range is acceptable.
